This is moderately complex clerical work involving the processing of documents in a variety of functions. An employee in this class performs a variety of document processing activities including the verification of information, arithmetic calculations, coding, and assisting the public in completing governmental forms. Duties involve the responsibility for a significant aspect of a work process, an involved single office activity which is production or control oriented, or other multiple activities which are comparable in scope and complexity. Work may involve providing training and guidance to new employees and fulfilling a lead worker function for routine clerical operations. Work is subject to periodic changes in operating procedures and requires some adaptability to shifts in work schedule. Employees work with considerable independence within standard operating procedure.
Minimum Experience & Training:
Six months as a Clerk 1 and educational development to the level of the eighth grade;
OR
Completion of a high school business curriculum;
OR
Any equivalent experience and/or training which provided the required knowledge and abilities.

Work normally involves making independent decisions concerning the process to be followed, the appropriateness of the information to be processed, and the actions to be taken. Work schedules and priorities are subject to unpredictable shifts due to external influences, time frame constraints, or self-imposed priority changes. Work is performed with considerable independence and little review.
Minimum Experience & Training:
One year as a Clerical Assistant 2 and educational development to the level of high school;
OR
One year of progressively complex clerical experience and completion of high school;
OR
Six months of moderately complex clerical experience and completion of a post high school business curriculum;
OR
Any equivalent experience and/or training which provided the required knowledges, and abilities.
Job description:
This is work is the receiving and issuing of materials, supplies, tools, and equipment. An employee in this job handles the receipt, storage, distribution, and inventory control activities for a variety of stock items and supplies in a storeroom setting or the shipping and receiving of raw and finished goods in a manufacturing setting. Work includes recordkeeping duties in the receiving, storing, issuing, and care of supplies to include preparing a list of stock items to be reordered, assisting in the conduct of manual and electronic inventories, and checking items received against the purchase order. Work also includes overseeing an inmate work detail in the filling and packing of requisition orders. Work assignments involve strenuous manual work and routine clerical tasks in the maintenance of stores records. Work may include the use of mechanized storeroom equipment to move materials. A supervisor prioritizes work assignments, but the employee determines work methods used to complete the assignments. Work is reviewed for appropriate storekeeping procedures through inspections of records and stock conditions.
Minimum Experience & Training:
One year of experience in stockroom, warehouse, or clerical work

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
Some positions require possession of an active PA non-commercial Class C driver's license or equivalent.

This is supervisory storekeeping work in the operation of a storeroom handling perishable or valuable stock in a State Correctional Institution or Facility. An employee in this class is responsible for the receipt, storage, and distribution and recordkeeping operations of storerooms handling perishable stock such as frozen food items or medical supplies requiring refrigeration; or are responsible for the receipt, storage and distribution and recordkeeping operations of storerooms handling valuable supplies including parts necessary for engine overhaul and rebuilding work; or are responsible for supervising the functions of employees performing specialized stores work. Employees are responsible for supervising subordinate employees performing varied manual and clerical tasks within one or more storerooms.
Minimum Experience & Training:
Four years of experience in stores control work, including two years of supervisory experience or in charge of a storeroom with considerable volume and variety of commodities; and such training as may have been gained through graduation from a standard high school or vocational school or any equivalent combination of experience and training.

An employee in this class serves as institutional or facility accreditation coordinator which involves insuring compliance with operating standards for adult correctional institutions established by the Commission on Accreditation for Corrections. Work also includes the administration of the inmate complaint system; the conduct of investigations and preparing reports relative to legal actions filed by inmates against institutional personnel; and acting as public information officer which involves the preparation of news media releases and holding press conferences. An employee in this class is also responsible for chairing a variety of institutional committees and preparing correspondence and special reports for the superintendent. The employee is required to serve as an administrative duty officer with other institutional management staff. Work is performed under the general supervision of the superintendent and effectiveness is determined through conferences and reports.
Minimum Experience & Training:
Five years of experience in a Commonwealth correctional institution or facility in the areas of counseling, education, security, vocational placement, vocational training, professional personnel management, or work of an administrative/managerial nature.
Appropriate college level training may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis to a maximum of three years or any equivalent combination of experience and training.
