In-person visitation is resuming throughout the DOC this summer. Decisions regarding the reinstatement of in-person visits at individual facilities are based on vaccination rates, overall percentage of positive cases and sewage detection results. Some of our visiting rules have changed, so please be sure to read this entire page before scheduling a visit with an incarcerated loved one.
The following facilities have reopened to visitors:
|SCI Laurel Highlands||May 22, 2021|
|SCI Waymart||May 27, 2021|
|SCI Muncy||May 30, 2021|
|SCI Cambridge Springs||May 31, 2021|
|Quehanna Boot Camp||June 3, 2021|
When visits resume, there will be slight modifications:
In-person visits must be scheduled via the inmate visitation system. This is the same system used to schedule video visits.
Visits must be scheduled three days in advance.
Each facility will offer timeslots for visits with a maximum number of inmate visits. Available timeslots will be based on the inmate's housing location and will be at a minimum one-hour long.
Four visitors are permitted with an inmate at a time. (Exception: At Quehanna Boot Camp, two visitors are permitted at a time.)
Each inmate is permitted three visits per month, one of which may be on a weekend.
All visitors must clear all security procedures and comply with all visiting room rules.
Notice on Cancelations: Visits can be canceled due to a variety of factors. Please check the email address with the account you registered in the scheduling system on the morning of your visit to ensure the visit is still scheduled. You will receive an email if it is canceled.
To mitigate COVID-19, new visiting room rules will be in place:
- All visitors must complete a COVID-19 questionnaire and temperature screening.
- All visitors 2 years old or older will be issued a mask by the DOC. If a visitor refuses the DOC-issued mask or fails to properly wear the mask during the visit, the visit may be terminated.
- All inmates will be issued a disposable mask for visits.
- SCI visiting rooms will be laid out to accommodate an appropriate distance between each visiting group.
- Vending machines and children play areas will be temporarily closed.
Video visitation is a free service being offered to inmates and authorized visitors, and all inmates are eligible to participate. The visiting rules for video visitation are generally the same as those for visiting in the facility.
Up to six visitors may participate in a video visit
An inmate may receive up to five video visits per month, one of which may be on a weekend.
