On April 15, SCI Dallas hosted visitors from Temple University School of Law from the Sheller Center for Social Justice. Professor Shanda Sibley and a team of student lawyers from her Parole Preparation Project provided an informational session to those that have struggled to make parole as well as those seeking commutation — two processes that seek to provide relief when individuals are doing the right thing.

The informational session was facilitated by the site's Licensed Psychology Manager, Dr. Ashton, and occurred as a result of inmate members of Dr. Ashton’s Alternative Influences and Responses Project (AIR). This marks the first visit from the Parole Prep Project to Dallas. Professor Sibley and her law students provided information to more than 80 inmates with a presentation and open dialogue to demystify the procedures involved and how to best express your personal change and rehabilitation to the board. Many of the attendees expressed their appreciation of the event and said they learned a lot from the law students' and Professor Sibley's expertise.
