DOC Hosts Reentry Simulation in Scranton

The DOC Reentry Simulation Team hosted a simulation on March 12 for three dozen community members at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Scranton. The church wants to start a bakery operated by reentrants to support them with work upon release from prison. The simulation was aimed at showing community members the challenges reentrants face in hopes they may support the bakery project.
As part of the simulation, participants are challenged to live through the first month of reentry. They are tasked with finding housing, work, groceries and more, and they face many hurdles they might not expect — especially transportation.
The DOC Reentry Simulation team puts on events across the state to educate the public about challenges reentrants face.
