Waymart, USP Canaan Split Annual Waymart Bowl Series

On Nov. 12, employees from SCI Waymart and USP Canaan resumed their rivalry at the venerable Varden Garden of Western Wayne High School in the recently reestablished Waymart Bowl: a pair of football games pitting these partners in corrections against each other for a good cause.

History was made as the tenacious state female players blended into a well-oiled machine marching on to a first-time victory, 33-12, finally defeating the dominating fed champs. Despite the state women’s win, the state men were unable to carry the momentum and turned in a 6-33 loss to the feds.

All proceeds from this annual charitable event — which was raised through the basket raffles, 50/50, food and beverage sales — were donated to local veteran organizations. Special credit to Retired Lieutenant Michelle Griffin of SCI Waymart, who promises to carry on the match-up for the coveted Windmill Trophy for years to come.
