BCC Donates More than 1,000 Phones to Support Victims

In honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the Bureau of Community Corrections donated more than 1,000 confiscated cell phones to PA Coalition Against Domestic Violence. The phones be refurbished and sold through More Than a Phone, and the proceeds will be used to buy new phones for domestic violence survivors — complete with unlimited calling and texting and 5GB of data for four months.
The phones were confiscated from residents of the DOC’s community corrections centers. Reentrants are permitted to have cell phones in the centers, but only if they are approved by the center and the reentrant follows a written cell phone agreement.
