Phoenix Honors Its Certified Peer Specialists on Global Peer Support Celebration Day

SCI Phoenix celebrated Global Peer Support Celebration Day to recognize the important role Certified Peer Specialists play in helping their fellow inmates address and respond to mental health and trauma-related challenges. The annual, worldwide event takes place on the third Thursday in October.

SCI Phoenix staff took the opportunity to celebrate their Certified Peer Specialists, who provide a shining example of overcoming the challenges often associated with mental health issues for their peers. Peer specialists inspire hope in others, but often fail to recognize and reflect on their own contributions.

SCI Phoenix provided certificates of recognition to honor the important job peer specialists do. In addition, three specialists were presented with Certificates of Achievement for their strong work ethic, outstanding service and passion for continuous improvement.
