During the month of May, three staff members and two reentrants at Scranton CCC competed in the St. Jude’s 3,000 push-up challenge. The goal of the challenge was for each participant to complete 3,000 push-ups before the end of the month. The challenge was introduced by Corrections Counselor 2 William Barrager after he came across a Facebook post with the challenge, and he was inspired to implement it at Scranton CCC.
All five participants successfully completed the challenge with at least 3,000 push-ups — one participant completed as many as 3,600 push-ups! Along with completing the challenge, Scranton CCC donated $300 to St. Jude’s.
Barrager — who completed 3,275 push-ups — extends his appreciation to Scranton CCC Director Jeffrey James (3,600) for allowing the opportunity for reentrants to participate, as well as CCCM Joe Nguyen (3,337) for his contribution to the event. Reentrant Seabridge completed 3,230 push-ups and reentrant Harris completed 3,000 exactly. Barrager hopes that this is the first of many similar events to be held at Scranton CCC.
