Rockview Begins New Prison Pups Partnership with Famed Rescue

After several years without a dog program, SCI Rockview recently entered into a new puppy endeavor with Villalobos Rescue Center, which was featured on the Animal Planet show Pitbulls and Parolees. The owner of the dog rescue, Tia Torres, started her own prison dog program called “Underdogs Prison Program,” and after months of work and planning SCI Rockview has become the first facility to house and train dogs for the program.
On Jan. 4, Rockview welcomed Elf, Chico, Colby, and Teeter into the facility to be trained by inmate handlers with assistance from Villalobos staff. The goal of the program is to train dogs rescued by Villalobos and assist in finding forever homes for the dogs.
