Waymart Holds Annual Day of Responsibility

On August 10, SCI Waymart held its annual Day of Responsibility an event which focuses on the effects and victims of crime. The event was headed up by Treatment Specialists Brian Delaney and Denise Bomba, along with their inmate committee.

The day included a luncheon, prepared by Instructor Mitchell’s culinary arts program. The event included outside guests, speakers from the Office of Victim Advocate and special music. Marley’s Mission attended to describe the effects of trauma to the participants. A total of 10 speakers shared very powerful messages of how crime has affected and is still affecting their lives and how they cope with the pain. Inmates wrote thoughts and apologies on note cards.

There were more than 125 people in attendance including inmates, staff and guests.
