The Pennsylvania Department of Corrections Safety Division recently held an Environmental Protection Agency certification class at the Scranton Community Corrections Center (CCC). Participants took the Certified Renovator for Lead Based Paint class and are now certified to meet all lead-safe work practices.

This course meets the requirements for Certified Renovators under the EPA’s Renovation, Repair and Painting (RRP) Rule, required for any renovation work in pre-1978 housing or child-occupied facilities. This course also meets the requirements for HUD Lead Safe Work Practice Training.

Safety Manager Kevin Tuite participated in the class, along with reentrants living in and reporting to Scranton CCC. Mr. Tuite will travel throughout the state to provide this training at additional DOC community corrections centers.
