Somerset Honor Guard Participates in Local Blue Mass

On Sept. 12, the SCI Somerset Honor Guard represented the DOC at a Blue Mass held at St. John Gualbert Cathedral in Johnstown, along with police, firefighters and other first responders from the region. The service was aired on WATM-23 throughout Western Pa and on Cornerstone Faith and Family TV. The Honor Guard was invited personally by Father Matt Baum, SCI Somerset contract chaplain.
A Blue Mass is a Catholic mass celebrated for those in the public safety field.
The Honor Guard later represented the entire DOC in Attica, NY, for the 50-year commemoration of one of the deadliest prison riots in American history.
