STRIVE is a state reentry parole initiative being facilitated out of the Scranton District Parole Office. STRIVE partners with several community services agencies to assist reentrants in overcoming barriers and achieving goals. Outreach Center for Community Resources has been a big part of the STRIVE initiative, and Outreach’s Ways to Work Program assists participants with low-interest auto loans even if they have low or no credit. They offer special financing on quality pre-owned vehicles.

Gavin Nelson has been involved with the STRIVE initiative since Aug. 2023, and he is one of many reentrants who struggle with barriers that hinder his successful reentry. One of the main barriers to his success was securing reliable transportation.

Thanks to Outreach’s Ways to Work Program, Nelson was able to overcome this barrier and have transportation to assist him in getting to work, as well as the upcoming STRIVE meetings!
