The DOC’s community corrections centers frequently hold donation drives and service projects throughout the year to give back to their communities, yet their impact is always felt even more during the holidays when organizations are in such need of support.
At Wernersville CCC, staff members sponsored 16 children through a program with Mary’s Shelter in Reading. Employees donated and wrapped gifts for their sponsored kids. (Pictured above)
Meanwhile at Scranton CCC, reentrants donated nearly $1,000 worth of toys for Toys for Tots in NEPA.
Reentrants from Tomorrow’s Hope served Coalport by putting up decorations and lights in the borough. They were even featured in Clearfield County’s newspaper, The Progress!
Lastly at York CCC, reentrants donated new toys for the Toy Challenge on the Columbus-Wrightsville Bridge. Last year’s challenge broke records by collecting more than 10,000 new toys and stocking stuffers are raising more than $2,700. This year's goal is 10,500 toys and stocking stuffers, and York’s reentrants did their part to help.
