SCI Coal Township’s Triumph inmate organization and Certified Peer Specialists presented donations to a pair of local organizations: Shamokin Youth Baseball Organization and Big Impact Project. Money was raised through a cornhole tournament, as well as the sale of sneakers (415 pairs), socks (270 3-packs) and t-shirts (1,156). Some inmates donated money in addition to the sales and tournament.
Triumph was established in 1995 on the foundation of Teamwork, Respect, Integrity, Unity, Morals, Pride and Honesty, and its purpose is to promote positive interactions and opportunities for self-improvement, social responsibility and community service.
Certified Peer Specialists provide outreach support, hope, recovery, wellness, conflict resolution and encouragement to their fellow incarcerated individuals.
The inmate organizations donated $10,500 to the Big Impact Project and $2,000 to the Shamokin Area Youth Baseball Organization.
The Big Impact Project is a non-profit dedicated to mentoring the youth of Schuylkill County.
