Pastor Ickes Names Employee of the Month at Somerset

SCI Somerset Superintendent Eric Tice announced the selection of Pastor Marilu Ickes as the SCI Somerset November 2022 Outstanding Employee for the Month.

Ickes started in the DOC as a volunteer in 2016, and in 2019 she became a contracted chaplain.  In November 2021, she was hired as a full-time chaplain at Somerset.  Supt. Tice said, “Pastor Ickes’ willingness to work flexible schedules to meet a variety of needs within the Chaplaincy Department does not go unnoticed. She continues to go above and beyond to meet the spiritual and emotional needs of the inmate population. She has been an instrumental piece in communicating with Hispanic inmates who struggle to communicate in English. She does an outstanding job and establishes a positive role model for all to follow.”
