Sgt. Rivera Named October Employee of the Month at Phoenix

SCI Phoenix is proud to announce the October Employee of the Month is Sgt. E. Rivera.

Sgt. Rivera has set a remarkable example during his 11 years of service to the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections. He possesses an unwavering commitment to not only teach but also take the lead with experienced and new staff to explain procedures and policies — as well as leading by example. He is a seasoned officer who is respected by his peers and inmates alike and can work anywhere in the facility when needed. Sgt. Rivera is a critical thinker with the right temperament to assist in deescalating tense situations. 

Sgt. Rivera has demonstrated great potential and exhibits great leadership qualities and abilities. He goes above and beyond to accomplish the task assigned. He maintains a positive attitude and rolls with the punches, but is willing to listen, understand and act based on the facts of the situation at hand. The institution can always count on him to get the job done!
