Celebrating National Social Work Month at Waymart

March 2019 is National Professional Social Work Month. This is an opportunity for social workers around the nation and world and their supporters to educate the public about the invaluable contributions of the profession. 

Every day, the nation's 680,000 social workers work to empower and elevate millions of people, including some of the most vulnerable in our society. 

DOC social workers have one of the most difficult jobs in the prison system: they work tirelessly to reintegrate people that are otherwise not wanted or welcome in the community. Their tireless efforts ensure the right inmate goes to the right community setting does not go unnoticed. Their commitment to fix the broken is honorable.

The four social workers at SCI Waymart were recognized for their hard work with a certificate, a thank-you chip and a DOC coaster.
