In honor of Women's History Month, the Department of Corrections will highlight some of the exceptional women who work for the DOC and the Pennsylvania Board of Probation and Parole. We are grateful for the wonderful women who work in Pennsylvania's criminal justice system.

Jessica Sterling
Commissary Canteen Clerk
SCI Albion

Jessica began her career on October 29, 2012, as a dental assistant where she worked until January 5, 2014. On January 6, 2014, she was assigned to her current position as a commissary canteen clerk.

Since Jessica's assignment to the Commissary she has hit the ground running. She truly defines the meaning of responsibility and taking ownership of her work assignment.

Examples of Jessica's commitment to her position can be seen in her everyday accomplishments as well as duties she has offered outside of her normal routine.

She has single handedly trained a newly hired commissary clerk. She assumed many of the responsibilities of a supervisor to ensure that her partner had the tools necessary to perform the functions of the job.

Additionally, Jessica has been a part of a major operational change which will positively affect the daily routine of the institution. She has been tasked with changing the delivery of commissary to the inmates on the housing units. This has been no small task, but Jessica has embraced the opportunity to improve operations in the facility.

Jessica's positive attitude is reflected in all aspects of her career. From simple daily conversation to her willingness to accomplish additional tasks; she is an example of an exceptional employee. She is valued by her peers and coworkers for her willingness to help. She is also highly esteemed as an employee by consistently demonstrating her professionalism within the department.

SCI Albion is grateful to have such a dedicated employee. She is most worthy to be highlighted as one of our outstanding female employees in the Department as we celebrate Women's History Month.

Linda Traut
Food Service Manager 2
SCI Albion

Linda began with the Department of Corrections at SCI Albion in November 2005 as a food service instructor.  She held that position for almost five years before promoting to food service manager 1 in 2010.  She held that position until December 2011, when she was promoted to food service manager 2 at Albion.

Anyone that knows or has worked with Linda, recognizes her depth of knowledge and experience in food service, along with her dedication to those she works with and for.

Linda works in a large and extremely active department where she supervises 21 food service instructors and four food service supervisors. She is ultimately responsible for the supervision of more than 300 inmates and daily preparation of over 7,000 meals for both inmates and staff.  All with being the only manager within her department.

Linda can be relied upon to not only perform the essential functions of her position, but also outside those parameters when she reports to work on her off days and after hours, as the needs of the institution dictate. This also includes availability to management and her line staff on an on-call basis as needed.

Linda continues to strive to make our facility and the PA Department of Corrections more "Lean" and cost effective.  She is diligent in the exercise of her budget allotment, the sole point of contact for all vendors and continues to display insight and fortitude, when navigating challenges with a new food purchasing system.  For SCI Albion she has become much more than a food service manager, rather, she is an integral part of administrative staff as it relates to overall institutional functioning and our core mission.

She serves as not only a mentor for new staff within her department, but as an example of what should, and does define, a manager at this institution and the department as a whole.

For all these reasons, we at Albion believe that Linda Traut is the best at what she does in the Department of Corrections. She is most worthy to be highlighted as one of our outstanding female employees in the department as we celebrate Women's History Month.

Tammy Turner
Institutional Business Manager 2
SCI Albion

Tammy began her Department of Corrections career at SCI Cambridge Springs in 1993 as a computer systems analyst 1. She held that position for two years before promoting to Cambridge Springs as institutional business manager 2 in 1995.  She held that position until she transferred to SCI Albion in 2009 where she has been to date, as the institutional business manager 2.

It should be noted that during Tammy's tenure with the Department of Corrections she received her Masters of Justice Administration in 2004 from Norwich University, Cum Laude.  She also holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science from Edinboro University and an Associates of Science Degree from Edinboro University in Computer Technology.

Anyone that knows or has worked with Tammy recognizes the depth of her knowledge and experience in not just the business area in our organization, but in corrections overall.  There is not a memo or email that has been sent out in the last 25 years that she probably does not recall and would probably be able to provide, if it surrounds her area of expertise.

Tammy continues to strive to make our facility and the PA Department of Corrections more "Lean" and has continually received training to keep her skills and knowledge-base sharp.  For SCI-Albion she has become much more than a business manager and is part of all critical meetings that occur so that her feedback can be received.

She has served as a mentor not only for staff at the facilities she has worked at but also other facilities as new business managers start their careers with the department.

For all these reasons, we at Albion believe that Tammy Turner is the best at what she does in the Department of Corrections. She is most worthy to be highlighted as one of our outstanding female employees in the Department as we celebrate Women's History Month.
