Waymart Honors Rabbi Itkin for 30 Years of Service

During SCI Waymart’s Volunteer of the Year event, the administration also took time to honor Rabbi Yehuda Itkin, who served as a contract chaplain at Waymart from 1993 until June 2023. It was noted that Itkin also served as a chaplain at Farview State Hospital until it closed and transitioned to SCI Waymart. During the event, Deputy Joe Grillo mentioned how much he appreciated Itkin's dedication to the inmates, telling the story of when then-CCPM Grillo called Itkin about an inmate who was hospitalized in Scranton, and how quickly Rabbi Itkin went to go visit the inmate. Itkin serves as the senior rabbi at Ohav Zedek Synagogue in Scranton.
