Donated items for the Womens Resource Center from Scranton CCC.

In May, Scranton CCC residents completed a community service project where they collected items for the Women’s Resource Center (WRC). Scranton CCC collected close to $900 worth of items for the WRC, including diapers, cleaning products, and hygiene products.

The WRC provides comprehensive services for victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence and stalking in Lackawanna and Susquehanna Counties. Their services include a crisis hotline, crisis counseling, emergency shelter, safe housing, legal services, support services, community education, advocacy, and many other programs.

The WRC has a team of compassionate and specially trained advocates, lawyers, counselors, and professionals who work tirelessly to assist victims of domestic violence and sexual assault gain their personal and financial independence. Staff from the WRC also operate a program called Safe Dates. This program includes 10 sessions where students will learn and discuss the causes of dating violence, how they can help a friend in an abusive relationship, common gender stereotypes regarding dating violence, and important prevention techniques.
