Scranton CCC collected nearly $800 worth of supplies for March’s community service project supporting Ruth’s Place Women’s Shelter. The reentrants provided items such as toilet paper, paper towels, dish soap, trash bags, deodorant, toothbrushes, shampoo, conditioner and much more.

Ruth's Place has provided shelter and case management services for women experiencing homelessness while honoring the dignity of each guest since 2003. The staff at Ruth’s Place provides onsite, individualized case management and employment development services. Guests at Ruth’s Place are also encouraged to participate in a series of intensive group workshops.

Ruth’s Place, a nonprofit program of Volunteers of America Pennsylvania, is the only emergency homeless shelter dedicated to serving women experiencing homelessness in Luzerne County. The shelter provides 24-hour lodging and services seven days a week to women experiencing homelessness in the area.

Ruth’s Place staff and clientele expressed their deepest appreciation for the items provided. They say that all items — no matter how small — will help provide positive forward movement for displaced women and their families.
