On a recent Friday evening, Harrisburg Community Corrections Center (CCC) Security Lieutenant Kelly Rodriguez noticed several people outside the facility gathered around a person lying unconscious in the street. The man was showing signs of an opioid overdose, so Lt. Rodriguez and Corrections Center Monitors Matthew Sposito and Lisa Rodriquez retrieved naloxone from inside the CCC. After two doses, the man became more responsive and began to breathe normally. The CCC staffers and other bystanders helped the man out of the street and onto the sidewalk to wait for EMS. Thanks to the decisive actions of Lt. Rodriguez, CCCM Sposito and CCCM Rodriquez, the man was conscious and alert when taken by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment.
