Mahanoy CERT, FERT Hold Joint Training

On Aug. 26, SCI Mahanoy conducted a combined CERT and FERT training at the Schuylkill County Emergency Services Training Center. This joint training gave the teams the opportunity to become more familiar with each other’s procedures and capabilities.
The teams worked together during a live burn, which gave them hands-on experience on how to respond to this type of emergency. Throughout the day, FERT members trained in fire behavior, water extinguishers, ventilation and hose management. CERT members trained in room and building clearing, mapping, staff recovery and weapons handling.
All participants agreed that the experience was extremely beneficial and look forward to similar training in the future.
