On July 26, SCI Fayette’s Corrections Emergency Response Team (CERT) conducted an educational and fun experience with Pennsylvania State Police Westmoreland County Camp Cadet program at the University of Pittsburgh-Greensburg. CERT members demonstrated various tools of their trade.  The cadets were presented with the opportunity to safely rotate through various stations set up to allow them to experience projectile-based compliance tools, electronic immobilization devices, oleoresin capsicum (OC) and other chemical munitions.

SCI Fayette’s CERT also presented the cadets with a timed obstacle course to run through and complete.  The obstacle course was replicated to simulate what CERT members must complete to be on the team.  The cadets were instructed on the application of OC when dealing with levels of force. The cadets applied what they learned and utilized escalation and de-escalation skills with OC administration on SCI Fayette’s CERT members.
