Starting Salary: $38,661 (SCI Phoenix & SCI Chester: $40,643)

The mission of the Department of Corrections is to protect the citizens of our Commonwealth by managing all state correctional facilities in a safe, secure, and humane manner. This includes offering treatment services at professionally accepted standards for committed individuals to prepare them to return to society as contributing and productive members.

Prior to becoming a Corrections Officer all recruits will go to the Corrections Academy as a Corrections Officer Trainee (COT). A COT is a person who has been appointed to complete the basic training necessary to become a Pennsylvania Corrections Officer. COTs must meet the Department's Eligibility Requirements and pass the Corrections Officer Selection Procedures.

A Parole Agent 1 is trainee level work in the supervision of probationers/parolees (Field Operations) or professional parole counseling of offenders preparing for release from an institution (State Correctional Institution).

You must meet eligibility requirements to take the exam and receive your score prior to applying to a specific vacancy posting for this title.
