Eight Inmates Graduate from Villanova

On June 13, 2019, SCI Phoenix hosted the Villanova Graduation Ceremony. A total of eight inmates were presented with their diploma, including one associate's degree and seven bachelor's degrees in General Liberal Arts Studies. One BA graduate graduated summa cum laude. Reverend Peter Donohue, president of Villanova University, served as the presenter of diplomas.
Inmates at SCI Phoenix and formerly at SCI Graterford have had the opportunity to take Villanova classes since 1972. There is no difference between Villanova students and graduates who study on campus or in the SCI; the courses and expectations are the same. Villanova offers eight courses per semester—a big improvement from when they used to only offer one.
