Laurel Highlands Welcomes Victim Services Speaker

In recognition of National Crime Victims' Rights Week and Sexual Assault Awareness Month, SCI Laurel Highlands welcomed a special speaker from Somerset/Cambria Victim Services. Heather Snyder spoke to an audience of more than 60 inmates and 15 staff. She shared the mission of Victim Services and the various areas of assistance that they provide to victims of crime. She also spoke on 
the effects that victims of crime experience—both short- and long-term. Snyder concluded her presentation by sharing her own story of victimization, survival and recovery. Attendees expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to learn from Snyder and thanked her for coming.
