In honor of Women's History Month, the Department of Corrections will highlight some of the exceptional women who work for the DOC and the Pennsylvania Board of Probation and Parole. We are grateful for the wonderful women who work in Pennsylvania's criminal justice system.

Judy Vescovi
Drug and Alcohol Treatment Specialist Supervisor
SCI Waymart

Judy Vescovi has more than 18 years of experience with the Department of Corrections. She began her DOC career in July 2000 as a drug and alcohol treatment specialist (DATS) 1, eventually being promoted to DATS supervisor in 2007.

Judy is highly self-motivated and leads by example. She continually exerts energy and resources to ensure that both staff and therapeutic community (TC) inmates follow "Healthy Living" principles of the TC. She routinely attends out-service trainings and implements these ideas into her daily routine for the benefit of the inmates. Judy began a meditation program for the TC inmates, which has become very popular. This program relies on the concept of mindfulness-based recovery, which is being conveyed to the inmates.
