Women's History Month: SCI Laurel Highlands

In honor of Women's History Month, the Department of Corrections will highlight some of the exceptional women who work for the DOC and the Pennsylvania Board of Probation and Parole. We are grateful for the wonderful women who work in Pennsylvania's criminal justice system.

Angela Pelar

Corrections Mail Inspector

SCI Laurel Highlands

Angie Pelar has 12 years of service to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania at SCI Laurel Highlands. She has outstanding job knowledge and skills which are required for someone working in the mailroom. Angie's work ethic is second-to-none as she can complete the most difficult tasks with ease.  She is a dedicated and innovative a team player and is highly deserving of recognition during this special month.

Dana Benn

Treatment Specialist

SCI Laurel Highlands

Dana Benn began her corrections career in 1998 as a contract drug and alcohol treatment specialist (DATS). She has held positions of DATS, psychological services specialist, and acting DATS supervisor. She current serves as a treatment specialist.

She has exceptional job knowledge and skills and goes above and beyond to ensure SCI Laurel Highlands is meeting its mission.  

Dana is very much involved in many areas at Laurel Highlands. She currently volunteers with the puppy program and as an Impact of Crime Class and C.O.V.E.R. facilitator. Dana is member of the Day of Responsibility committee and the Critical Incident Stress Management Team. She is a staff trainer for CPR/AED and suicide prevention. Additionally, Dana regularly volunteers for the flag folding ceremonies, helping to raise money for the Flight 93 Memorial.

In the community, Dana is highly involved in her church where she volunteers as a keyboardist and vocalist for the church worship team.

Dana's coworkers describe her as being dedicated, enthusiastic and a highly-motivated team player.

Jennifer Schrock
Registered Nurse Supervisor

SCI Laurel Highlands

Jennifer Schrock has worked at SCI Laurel Highlands since inception and has 30 years of service with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. She has outstanding job knowledge and skills working as the 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. administrative registered nurse supervisor (RNS). She also works as the shift RNS voluntarily as needed. 

Jennifer keeps the Vivitrol/Naltrexone programs on task; she is integral in this process. She is also fluent with the Life Skills Program.

Jennifer is described as being dedicated, innovative and a team player.
