A Fallen Soldier Table display

For Memorial Day, the Quehanna Boot Camp C.O.V.E.R. Team wanted to honor those who gave their lives for our country. A Fallen Soldier Table was set up in the officer’s dining room in honor of all those we have lost. Staff members were invited to stop by the Fallen Soldier Table and have a moment of silence for those who are no longer with us.

The sign on the table explains the significance of the items on the table. The white tablecloth symbolizes the purity of their motives when answering the call to duty. The single red rose in a vase reminds us of the blood given, the life of each of the missing, and the loved ones and friends who miss them daily. The red ribbon symbolizes the continued determination to remember our fallen, account for our missing, and display the patriotism that is America. A slice of lemon on the plate is to remind us of the bitter fate of those who will never return. A pinch of salt symbolizes the tears of the families and friends who have lost those dear to them. The candle is reminiscent of the light of hope which lives on in one’s heart, the light of America will always be the light in the world of darkness. The glass inverted is to symbolize their inability to share in today’s activities. The chair is empty for they are not physically with us today.
