Three CCCs Team Up to Serve Canine Rescue of Central PA

On April 26, staff and reentrants from a trio of community corrections centers worked side by side at Canine Rescue of Central PA. The volunteers were from York, Harrisburg and Wernersville community corrections centers, and they accomplished the following:
- Mulched the fenced-in dog yards and covered them for shade
- Mowed and trimmed all grassy areas
- Cleared dog walking paths of debris
- Built donated dog beds
The day began with a briefing from Facility and Grounds Maintenance Manager Babs. Babs provided the team with the list of tasks and an introduction to the organization. The participating reentrants really enjoyed the community service event and were motivated to seek additional opportunities. Staff involved were able to connect with reentrants during this time and foster positive reentry concepts through genuine conversation and hard work.
Canine Rescue of Central PA, Inc., is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing assistance to dogs in helpless situations. It is the rescue’s mission to provide sanctuary, shelter, and new homes to as many dogs as possible.
