Benner Township Celebrates 10th Anniversary

SCI Benner Township hosted retirees and held a special luncheon to celebrate the facility’s 10-year anniversary.
Construction on the facility began in 2010, and the $200 million-dollar, state-of-the-art prison was officially dedicated by Gov. Tom Corbett on April 1, 2013. Benner Township is a medium-security facility for adult male inmates. At the time, it became the 26th correctional institution under the jurisdiction of the DOC. The first inmates moved in on April 13, 2013.
