Dallas Horticulture Students Create Centerpieces

An evergreen holiday centerpiece

SCI Dallas horticulture students created these beautiful centerpieces in December and sold them to employees. Proceeds went to the Inmate General Welfare Fund.

The horticulture program at SCI Dallas is a vocational class where inmates get certified in horticulture/landscaping, floriculture/greenhouse grower, or applied horticulture through NOCTI.

For more than 50 years, the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections has released a newsletter called "Correctional Newsfront." The newsletter highlighted great stories happening in our facilities involving staff, inmates, parolees and anyone involved in corrections in PA. After it became a digital newsletter, it has taken another step into the future by being turned into a blog.
