In November, SCI Camp Hill bid farewell to Food Service Instructor Edward Boone — one of the last three remaining employees who served during the 1989 riot.
After leaving the Army, Boone began his employment with the Department of Corrections as a Food Service Instructor on Oct. 2, 1989. Within a few short weeks, Camp Hill experienced a riot, and Ed was pulled from basic training at the DOC Training Academy in Elizabethtown and sent back to the institution to assist. Ed persevered through numerous adversities and continued to maintain mental strength, passion and an energetic attitude.
After his exceptional 33 years of dedicated service, Boone decided to retire. Camp Hill is extremely proud of his dedication to duty, commitment to excellence and exemplary role model and leader.
