Gaudenzia DRC Celebrates Recovery Month

​On Sept. 16, Gaudenzia DRC held its annual Recovery Celebration. Reentrants were treated to a special meal and a recovery presentation by staff and special guests. Staff members sharing their personal stories of recovery included Jaime Morris, Certified Recovery Specialist with the CSAT program (Center for Substance Abuse Treatment) and Donna Brown-Cade, CSAT Director. The residents were also treated to recovery stories from BCC social worker Dr. Joan Lamberth-Williams, who celebrates 32 years in recovery, as well as Anthony Bynum, Certified Recovery Specialist, who was a previous reentrant at DRC and a participant in the CSAT Program. Everyone shared their struggles and their successes when they made the decision, or sometimes the decision was made for them, to make positive changes in their lives.

The celebration ended with speeches by Andrea Harris, Assistant Deputy Director, and Fredric Shapiro, Deputy Regional Director, reminding the reentrants of the many opportunities available at DRC for transition and personal growth.
