A trio of Scranton CCC employees joined SCI Waymart staff for the July #12MonthsOfKindness service project. The Scranton CCC staff members joined 13 employees from Waymart at Camp Freedom in Carbondale to remove 20 tons of rock in order to plant a new food plot.

The rocks were moved to help repair the road leading to the plot, and the food plot area will soon be planted to feed deer for energy and growth that will allow disabled veterans the ability to hunt. This outstanding activity is made possible through one of many programs that Camp Freedom sponsors. Camp Freedom offers services to military veterans, police, first responders and corrections personnel to help deal with trauma. Executive Director Matt Guedes will soon be coming to Waymart to hold conversations with inmates and staff regarding trauma and how it affects our lives.

SCI Waymart and Scranton CCC hope to complete more projects together in the future.
