Mahanoy Hosts College Visits

Students from Bloomsburg University and Penn State – Schuylkill participated in tours of SCI Mahanoy to learn about the facility and meet staff and inmates.
Most of the students who participated are majoring in criminal justice, and the tours consisted of an introductory meeting with several staff members, a presentation giving them an overview of the facility, a tour of many of Mahanoy’s common areas and a general population housing unit. The students also had a Q&A session with three inmates who answered any questions they had for them.
Students were very appreciative and thankful for the experience, and some expressed interest in interning or working with the DOC in the future.
