Optical Lab Program Alumnus Shares Success Story

​A reentrant was released from SCI Cambridge Springs on March 6, and less than a month later she was offered a full-time opticianry job.

The woman worked in the PA Correctional Industries Optical Lab, and she interviewed with Walmart Optical for an open position. The interview went so well, she was offered the position on the spot at a rate of $20 per hour and with full benefits. The manager was especially excited to hear she has edging experience, because they have an edging machine but no one who knows how to use it.

Thanks to her experience in the optical lab at SCI Cambridge Springs, she instantly invaluable member of her new team.

The reentrant reached out the day of her interview to her former boss, Optical Lab Supervisor Tony Rentz, to share the good news and wish her former colleagues at Cambridge Springs well.
