The Scranton Community Corrections Center’s in-house population collected items for AMVETS and the FSB Initiative throughout the month of January.

AMVETS (American Veterans) is the nation’s most inclusive Congressionally chartered veterans service organization, representing the interests of 20 million veterans. AMVETS is open to and fighting for all who honorably served in the United States military, including the Reserve and Guard. With more than 250,000 members nationwide, they are veterans serving veterans.

The FSB Initiative is a 501c3 non-profit organization that has one simple mission: Help homeless veterans off the street and on their feet. They go out into the homeless community and help homeless veterans with clothing, hygiene items, food and any other comforts they can give. However, the help does not stop there. They work with veterans if they have addictions and offer to get them into treatment if they desire.

Scranton CCC donated personal hygiene items. These items are being used to make bags to pass out to homeless veterans. These organizations go to high homeless population areas to provide our veterans with these much-needed items as well as coats and other winter gear.
