In the month of November, the Scranton Community Corrections Center's in-house population collected more than $1,100 for Toys for Tots in Northeastern PA.

Toys for Tots collects new, unwrapped toys and distributes them to children at Christmas. The original Toys for Tots project was founded in 1947 by Marine Corps Reserve Major Bill Hendricks, and it became a nonprofit public charity at the behest of the Marine Corps in 1991.

A local Toys for Tots representative discussed with Scranton CCC personnel about the difficulties the organization has had due to COVID-19 and how low collections have been, and the Scranton CCC jumped at the chance to help.

The SDTP non-resident (NR) population also chipped in nearly $500, bringing the total donation from the Scranton CCC to almost $1600.

In addition to the generosity of the reentrants, Scranton CCC staff were also happy to donate and help out to support Toys for Tots.
