On Oct. 20, SCI Dallas staff presented a check for $600 to The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention from the Therapeutic Community and Recovery Unit's Out of Darkness Walk in September.

The walk took place on Sept. 28, 2021, with 74 inmates walking the large yard (4 laps equal 1 mile) for 45 minutes to raise $400 dollars. The Lifer's Association, The JC's and the Latin American Cultural Association Study Group contributed an additional $200 dollars, raising the total to $600.

The SCI Dallas activities department and the SCI Dallas SUD Department coordinated the walk and participated alongside TC and RU members. The activities department donated candy bars to be handed out at the conclusion of the walk.
