Mercer Opens PCI Garment Shop

Although its official grand opening was delayed due to COVID-19, SCI Mercer opened its first Pennsylvania Correctional Industries program with a new Garment Shop.
The shop has 26 inmate workers and will expand to more than 65. It also has two DOC employees: a correctional factory foreman and Correctional Industries supervisor.
The shop opened at minimum staffing levels in May. It produces inmate spring jackets and winter coats, as well as correctional officer winter coats.
