SCI Waymart's administration recognized staff members for stepping up and participating in the Mentoring Program. The program recently held two virtual classes (four hours each) for new and current mentors. Thirteen employees participated to become new mentors, and three current mentors took the required two-hour refresher training.
The classes were designed to prepare individuals who want to help shape the future of the facility by mentoring new employees. DOC policy, the Code of Ethics and dealing with difficult people were among the topics of the training.
A second session will be held in July to accommodate newly approved mentors as well as participants from other intuitions.
Superintendent George Miller stressed the importance of this program and presented each staff member with a certificate for completing the courses.
