A trio of graduates of the Quehanna Boot Camp recently checked in to thank the staff and provide updates on their reentry.

QBC Buiilding Trades Teacher McCullough received a phone call from a former Fiber Optics student, Rio, who graduated from the Boot Camp on July 15, 2020. Rio just hit his 3-month mark in his new position of fiber optic installer, where he is fusion splicing cables and testing with an OTDR. Since gaining employment with the company, he has been able to get a place of his own and purchase a vehicle.

Rio is very thankful for getting a chance to complete the program here and wanted to say thank you for all that the QBC staff has done.

McCullough was also contacted by Brian, who graduated from the Boot Camp on April 22, 2020 and was a masonry student.

Brian said things are going great for him, and he is approaching his one-year mark with the Witmer Group (a masonry contractor). Currently, he is working on a masonry restoration project at a hospital making a little over $26 an hour with a complete benefit package. He also takes advantage of any available overtime hours.

He was grateful that he had the opportunity to be introduced to a career like masonry, where he is earning livable and sustainable wages. He now has his own place and a vehicle.

Brian wanted to thank everyone for helping him turn his life around.

Shortly after, Tyrone also reached out to the facility. Tyrone graduated on Nov. 6, 2019, and is thankful for everyone at QBC that helped him.

He is currently working for UPS and has started his own clothing line. The program really helped him turn his life around. He was especially thankful for his primaries and for the librarians for all of their help.
