DOC MAT Specialist Presents at Regional Workshop

The National Governors Association (NGA) and the American Correctional Association (ACA) invited Pennsylvania DOC MAT Statewide Coordinator Steve Seitchik to participate as a virtual speaker for their "Western Regional Workshop on Expanding Access to Medication Assisted Treatment for Justice-Involved Populations" on Nov. 5-6. The NGA and ACA hosted five states for this workshop: Alaska, California, Kansas, New Mexico, and North Dakota.

The purpose of the regional workshop is to provide governor's policy advisors, state public health and public safety officials and senior correctional administrators with best practices and training to build support for and increase integration of substance use treatment services in correctional settings and upon reentry back into communities.

The panel Seitchik participated on was titled: "Reentry Planning, Care Coordination, and Payment Strategies."  The session focused on strategies to provide a continuum of care for individuals transitioning into community-based settings, as well as the important role of facilitating Medicaid enrollment to pay for and provide access to ongoing substance use disorder treatment and recovery services.
