SCI Muncy's 100th year anniversary was celebrated during the week of October 26-30.

On Oct. 28, 1920, the first three inmates arrived at the State Industrial Home for Women. To mark the occasion, a changing of the flags ceremony was held on October 28, 2020.

Although the original plan was to hold a much larger celebration to acknowledge the institution's milestone, COVID-19 presented many challenges and did not allow for such a large-scale event.

Instead, staff celebrated the Centennial with special meals and yummy treats throughout the week and more than 100 gift cards and baskets were handed out in raffle drawings.

A display case was filled with old photos and historical items, and a photo slideshow was posted online for staff as well as on the inmate channel. Each staff member received a commemorative 100th year anniversary pin as a memorable token of the Centennial. Challenge coins and clothing marking the 100-year anniversary were also sold through the employee recreation association.
