Creating an inclusive environment is the responsibility of every employee at every level, so the DOC Training Academy created a course for supervisors and managers at Central Office focused on diversity and inclusion.

The four-hour course was developed for supervisors and managers working in public safety agencies as part of the Governor's initiative to promote diversity and inclusion. The goals of this course are to educate participants on what diversity and inclusion mean and why it is important in the workplace; to understand the role of leadership in creating an inclusive environment; define and identify unconscious bias, and identify behaviors that promote respect.  Participants will be able to apply the information they learned and develop strategies to create and maintain a diverse and inclusive workplace.

The first three sessions took place on Jan. 22, 23 and 24, with the final three opportunities available Feb. 4, 5 and 6.
